Master T.Y. Pang taught that "T'ai-Chi is the Dance of Life" in 1968 at the University of Hawaii. Students learned about this Chinese martial art that was just beginning to be offered outside of Asia in the West.
Master Robert Yeung taught the Classical Wing-Chun at a church near Honolulu Chinatown. He was granted permission to open his own school in Hawaii by Grandmaster Yip Man. His teaching emphasized “sticky hands” and learning how to use Butterfly Swords.
Professor Daniel Lee instructed select students in Jeet Kune Do at his residence on Sunday afternoons in the mid-1970s. He was the first student of Bruce Lee's Los Angeles school. As a Jet Propulsion Engineer in Pasadena, he also drew upon Psalm 46:10 in teaching his students to “Be Still and Know that I Am God.”
Chinese martial artist and author Christopher Eng looks forward to discussions about these three arts, beginning with an understanding of each of their philosophies.
